Founded in 1988 and certified by the State of California, the Academy is accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges. Excelsior students are of average and above average intelligence in grades one through twelve whose needs fall within the areas of processing, memory, language, organization, attention, and socialization. Far Horizons Montessori School, Inc. was started over twenty years ago expressly to meet the challenge of providing excellence in education for today's child. We limit our enrollment to 50 students. We are not a reform school, and we cannot help a student who is a habitual problem in every school he/she has attended. However, we have been very successful in working with students who have had learning problems, and helping them to become highly functional.

The Frostig School is celebrating 60 years of excellence in educating children with learning disabilities in grades 1-12. The school offers a full range of academic and support services, which are targeted to children with learning disabilities (such as dyslexia and nonverbal learning difficulties), Asperger's and ADHD. It has WACS accreditation and all completed courses, credits and high school diplomas are recognized by the California Department of Education. All teachers are credentialed in learning disabilities and key subject areas, the fine arts or physical education, and there is a low student to teacher ratio (6:1). The Frostig School serves the areas of Los Angeles County and the San Gabriel Valley and offers student transportation.
