School Overview

In September of 1996 West Valley Middle School opened its doors. Complementing Primary Plus Elementary, WVMS offers academics and extended care to students in grades 5th through 8th. We set high academic expectations and our middle school programs consistently outperform other schools by scoring in the 90th plus percentile academically. We stress delivering a balanced, fun learning experience, and students learning at their own pace. We encourage participation in a myriad of extracurricular activities. Our successful academic program has placed many students into the valley's best high schools. With enrollment of under 100, we offer small classes while maintaining a sense of community. Mathematics focuses on algebra as early as sixth grade, integrating it into a conceptual program which also ensures strong basic skills. Language arts and social studies combine core class, allowing these complementary subjects to dovetail. Science requires skills in both language and math. At WVMS, the focus is on discovery learning through a hands-on-approach. We offer classes in art, Lego-Robotics, wood-working, physical education and Spanish. Each student at West Valley has a designated laptop computer so that they can utilize technology and computers as a part of learning in all subjects.
