School Overview

The Children's Tree Montessori School, established in 2000, is unique in that it is the only Montessori school on the Connecticut shoreline that offers an elementary program (ages 6-12) in addition to its primary program(ages 3-6). A recent study published by Science Magazine proved that children in public Montessori programs scored higher on tests than children in traditional public schools. Montessori education was developed by Dr. Maria Montessori. January 2007 marked the 100 year anniversary of the opening of Dr. Montessori's first school. It is an educational philosophy based on creating a child-centered learning environment where children develop a sense of self-respect, independence and love of learning.
