Westover is a girls-centered boarding and day school for grades 9–12, including a PG year, in Middlebury, Connecticut—a classic New England town just outside New York City. With a close-knit community of about 190 students, Westover offers an intentionally small environment where each girl is known, challenged, and celebrated. Our signature programs—including Women in Science and Engineering (WISE), the Financial Independence, Resourcefulness, and Entrepreneurship (FIRE) initiative, and the newly launched Westover Institute—provide transformative, real-world learning that empowers students to lead with intellect, integrity, and courage. The Westover Institute is an incubator for the school’s signature programming, allowing students to apply their learning to explore big questions facing their generation through short-form, interdisciplinary courses led by Westover faculty and outside experts. Rooted in a vibrant tradition of academic excellence and sisterhood, Westover prepares young women not only for the world’s most selective universities but for lives of purpose, leadership, and lasting impact.

An Expanding Vision for Westover’s Signature Programs

The Westover Institute is a new program that will serve as an incubator for the school’s signature programs, allowing students to apply their learning to explore big questions facing their generation. This program will provide a platform for teachers from inside and outside Westover to lead short courses on topics that range from entrepreneurship and finance to global issues, environmental sustainability, integrity and justice, resiliency, DEIB, leadership, women in science, and more.
