Woodland Hall Academy accepts bright students who have dyslexia, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorders, Aspergers, and related language disorders. These students have language and perceptual difficulties. Their abilities and academic skills in relation to their potential are generally below what would be expected. These students have experienced difficulty in regular classrooms because their reading, comprehension, writing, spelling or mathematics skills are below grade level or beneath their expected performance. Often they have attention concentration deficits, organizational difficulties and/or a poor self-concept. Woodland Hall Academy is one of the few schools in the country who work with children with ADHD without the use of medication. Children with ADHD are taught how to focus, maintain organization, and develop self-control through positive reinforcement and logical consequences. Woodland Hall Academy is accredited by The National Private Schools Accreditation Alliance and is a member of the Florida Association of Special Education Facilities as well as a member of the Coalition of McKay Scholarship Schools. The goal of Woodland Hall Academy is to remediate the child within a reasonable time period and help the child develop the appropriate skills needed to return to regular academic classrooms and to function adequately within his intelligence range without stress or undue frustration. Generally, a minimum of three or four years is required.
