Williamsburg Montessori School an independent Montessori school for toddlers through elementary, WMS encourages rigorous, self-directed learning for life in a child-centered community valuing independence, peace, and respect for others. Williamsburg Montessori School provides a daily living and learning environment designed to help children grow socially, physically, and mentally in a structure governed by the educational philosophy developed by Maria Montessori. We aim to develop in each child the ability to solve problems, to use freedom wisely, to respect him/herself, and above all, to take joy in learning. Each teacher, assistant teacher and aide at WMS has been chosen with care for his or her education, mastery and warmth of spirit. Together we comprise an outstanding educational community. The WMS faculty consists of nine trained Montessori directresses. Each directress holds a Montessori teaching certificate from the American Montessori Society as well as other degrees.
