School Overview

Young children learn through actively manipulating materials. They are at the "hands on" stage of learning and can only fully comprehend and integrate experiences into their lives when they are allowed time to explore, experiment and use ideas in a way that is meaningful to them- that is, directly related to their world and their prior knowledge. All children need hands-on experiences, but for children who have less developed auditory skills, this hands on approach is imperative. Therefore, The Workshop is an active learning enviroment. This philosophy continues through our Primary Grades where children have lots of hands on experiences and where teachers are helping the children towards real learning and understanding. The education each child receives is tailored to his learning style and needs. We seek to foster creative thinking, love of learning, and joy in each accomplishment. The children will be exposed to a full range of learning opportunities including, Spanish, Music, Science, Cooking, Art and Computers.
