Overview

Mary A. Dobbins School's mission at The Children's Home is to provide professional therapeutic and supportive services that help children and their families to become productive members of society. The Mary A. Dobbins School is large enough to provide a myriad of quality educational and therapeutic services, yet small enough that staff members know every student by name. Our teaching staff has expanded school programs, and offers students new opportunities, such as Adaptive Physical Education, and a school to work Transition Program. Students will, of course, continue to receive instruction in math, science, reading, language arts, consumer education, computer assisted instruction, social studies, health and physical education, vocational studies and distributive education that are aligned with New Jersey's core curriculum content standards. There is a reading tutorial program taught by a full time Reading Specialist, designed specifically for those students who are experiencing difficulties with reading and comprehension skills.
