The Gloria Dei Montessori School is Dayton's oldest Montessori school, serving children aged 18 months through 12 years using the Montessori method since 1962 when the school was founded by Virginia "Ginny" Varga. Christina M (Sutter) Allen, a former Gloria Dei Montessori student and a certified Montessori teacher, became Head of School in 2002. In 2011, Joseph Keegan, a Lower Elementary teacher for the past four years, took over as Head of School. We provide an authentic Montessori education for children in the Miami Valley, fostering independence, a love of learning, intrinsic motivation and respect for all things. Our mission at Gloria Dei Montessori is to meet the individual, intellectual, physical, spiritual, social, and emotional needs of each child.
