School Overview

Clarke School East is a private, non-profit educational program devoted to teaching deaf and hard-of-hearing children to listen and talk. The school opened in 1995 in response to the growing need for oral deaf education in Greater Boston. Currently, more than 30 children with hearing loss are benefiting from our program that focuses on the development of listening, thinking, and conversational skills. We have been welcoming families from the Greater Boston area, Cape Cod, New Hampshire, and Rhode Island. Clarke School East provides early intervention services, has preschool and kindergarten classes, as well as mainstreaming and cochlear implant rehabilitation services. Our students use cochlear implants, hearing aids, and FM systems. Clarke School East began in July of 1995 and is a program modeled after the renowned Clarke School for the Deaf/Center for Oral Education's successful early intervention, mainstream and preschool programs. Our program is designed to meet the audiological, educational and communication needs of young deaf and hard-of-hearing children and their families living in the greater Boston area.
