Alexander was founded in 1888 in Charlotte as a women and children's rescue mission. In 1945, the agency began transitioning to serve children with emotional and behavioral problems. Alexander serves North Carolina children ages 5-18. Children served in residential programs come from nearly three quarters of the counties in North Carolina. Alexander provides a comprehensive array of children's behavioral healthcare services in three basic categories: outpatient, residential, and community-based services.
